Hayden will be TWO YEARS OLD TOMORROW!!!!!!!
I cannot believe that it has been two years since Hayden was born! I still remember every detail. My family and Davin's family came into College Station to spend the night with us on Friday the 26 of January and we all went out to eat at Johnny Carino's (for a last supper, per say)and then my family went to their hotel, Davin's went to theirs and Davin and I went home so we could "sleep" before we had to get up at 4 and go to the hospital to start my induction. Needless to say, I think Davin got a little bit of sleep, but I got NONE and finally just got out of bed at 3 am. We were so many things: excited, scared to death, happy, anxious, nervous, etc. WE got to the hospital around 4:30 and they started me on the pitocin at 5am. I was already dilated to 2 cm and completely effaced (and had been for three weeks)so my labor had officially started. The rest of our family started to show up around 9 am and I still hadn't gotten my epidural and my water still hadn't broken AND I was STILL dilated at a 2 and not moving forward. FINALLY once my doctor got there around 10 or 10:30 to check on me, she was about to have them break my water, but before they did the nurse checked me one more time and my water broke on it's own...THANK GOD! I got my epidural between 11 and noon and that was by FAR the most painful part of labor at that point since it took the doctor four tries before he got the needle to stay in. Once I got the epidural though, life was pretty good!!! By that time our family and friends started placing bets about when I would give birth, how much Hayden would weigh, and how long he would be, etc. Everyone was thinking he would be born between 3pm and 5pm at the latest since I had been in labor since a little before 5am. At around 4 pm it looked as though everyone was right because i finally hit 10 cm and the doctor said I was ready to start pushing. So while the doctor left the room to go scrub in and get ready, the nurses stayed with me to get me ready.....well the next thing I know, I am "coming to" and hearing a lot of beeping and I had about three nurses surrounding me trying to turn me on my side, lift me up, and take my blood pressure. Apparently,Hayden had turned and gone back up and while doing so he put a lot of pressure on one of my arteries and slowed the blood flow and oxygen which caused my blood pressure to plummet and made me pass out. Once I realized what was going on, they were panicked because two minutes had gone by and they couldn't get a read on Hayden's heartbeat....NOW I started to panic. In a matter of minutes they had in internal monitor placed on his head in my belly so they could monitor his heart beat and my contractions that way. Finally he and I both stabilized and everything calmed down some. However, because of how he had turned, he was no longer positioned correctly for birth so they decided to try to roll me over every 30 minutes or so and massage my stomach to see if they could get him to drop and position himself again. If they couldn't get him to do that, I was going to have to have a C-section which I did NOT want to have. The next four hours passed with my being turned and massaged, and my having EXCRUCIATING contractions here and there because my pain medication wasn't strong enough, but finally they got that adjusted. Then 8pm rolled around and GOOD NEWS!!!! Hayden was dropped and positioned correctly and I was ready to push again! This time I wasn't taking any chances for fear that the same thing would happen again, so I started pushing at 8:00pm and Hayden was born at 8:24pm. Whooo hoooo! Davin was a great coach and as soon as Hayden was born, Davin cut his cord and helped the nurses wash him off before giving him to me. Hayden came out calm, and wide-eyed, just looking at everyone, taking it all in. He was so alert to his surroundings! We spent the next two days in the hospital and then took our little guy home and time has FLOWN by since then! Davin and I are still very new at this whole "parenthood" thing, but we have learned a lot from Hayden and from each other over the last two years and we just can't wait to see what the future hold for our beautiful little boy! A little sister will join him in just a hew short weeks and then we will REALLY start learning about parenthood! Ha! We are so thankful for our family and have been so blessed with Hayden just as we will be by our daughter when she gets here. I love my little family so much and I just can't believe that small little 7 lb, 2oz, and 20 inches long newborn baby boy I held in my arms two years ago, is now one inch shy of being three feet tall, weighs 28 pounds, has had all his teeth for about 6 months, has been walking since ten months old and talking since eight months old! Now he sings his ABC's, The Wheels on the Bus, B-I-N-G-O, he loves to read and draw and play with his blocks! He will repeat EVERYTHING anyone says and he LOVESSSSSSS football, or "feetball" as he calls it! I guess this long winded story is just a Mommy's way of saying "Happy Birthday Hayden Boy! Mommy and Daddy love you very much!" Tomorrow, I'm going to bring a birthday cupcake home for Hayden and Davin and I will have dinner and cake with him and take some birthday pictures that I will try to post for you all! Then Saturday is the BIG Scooby Birthday Party at our house and we are so looking forward to seeing all of you can make it!!!
Love to you all,
Spencer

Daddy's coming home!!!!
Yay! Davin will be home tonight instead of tomorrow and we are soooooooo excited! It feels like he has been gone forever, so Hayden and I can't wait to see him! It sounds like the Orlando trip went well and Davin sounds exhausted and like he's ready to be home too. He still has a few more "overnighters" he has to pull when he is doing collections, but hopefully he won't have that many more to to so he can finally just be home and stay home for a while.
Hayden was WIRED yesterday and never took a nap, so that was interesting for me to say the least...but we read a lot of books and did a lot of "coloring" on the Magna Doodle, so we had fun. He's just full of energy all the time! Well, that's all for now; talk to you all soon!
Love,
Spencer

Baby Peyton Update
Hi everyone. I had another appointment this morning with my OBGYN and she gave me the results to the gestational diabetes test and of course everything was normal...so no diabetes here! Great news! Not so great is that I am pretty much stuck with my back pain until the baby gets here because all I'm going to do is continue to stretch so my muscles will likely continue to tear and my ruptured disc will continue to have pressure put on it. I'm going to only take pain medication at night (like I have been doing) so it can help me sleep and then the doctor thinks I may very likely need to have some physical therapy after Peyton gets here to help heal my back faster. I think it will probably be fine and everything will heal on its own once Peyton is born, but maybe I'm wrong. Also, my hemoglobin came back at a 5.5 so my anemia has gotten very bad, so I have been put on prescription iron again, which also isn't very shocking. I'm anemic anyway, so naturally it's bound to get worse, the further along my pregnancy progresses. Even though I was put on a prescription pre-natal vitamin with extra iron in it already, I still need more iron, so the doctor gave me six months worth of prescription iron. Anyway, Peyton is doing great and that's all that matters to me so the appointment went very well! I go back in two weeks and then, in February we will start to think about my due date, since I will definitely be induced again.
In other news, Angel, Erica, and Ashley all came over and took complete care of me last night while Davin is gone. They picked Hayden up from daycare, got dinner, fed Hayden, bathed him, played with him and hung out with me because they don't want me by myself with Hayden while Davin is gone. They are AWESOME! I am so lucky to have such wonderful, selfless friends! I love you girls! Davin is in Orlando getting ready for the weekend show at the Sportsmen/Outdoorsmen event where they have a booth. Hayden and I sure to miss him and can't wait to see him next Monday! Luckily, work has been nuts for me this week, so that is making this week go by very fast, so it should be Monday before I know it! Well, that's all for now, I hope you all have a great week!
Love,

Daddy's Gone for NINE days!!!
Davin left today for a HUGE sportsman and outdoor show in Orlando, FL. It will be really good for business, but I have to admit that I'm not too excited that he will be gone for nine days! It's only been a couple of hours and we already miss him around here! Mommy isn't very much fun since I can't move around very much for too long. I'm trying to play on the floor with Hayden while icing my back, but it is a little difficult. Not to mention that Hayden is going through his "I only listen to Daddy" phase, so Mommy has to chase him a lot and say "no" a lot. Hopefully this week will go by really fast and we will make it without any problems. I go back to the doctor on Wednesday morning and will get another sonogram, so I will let you know how that goes! I hope you are all doing well! Have a great week!

Health Update
I am very happy to say that Hayden's RSV is clearing up pretty steadily, so he's down to breathing treatments at night, but is still taking his Zyrtec, Singulair, and Flonase daily. The doctor wants him to just continue that indefinitely because he has such bad allergies and problems with asthma. He's making up for not eating all last week and is now eating EVERYTHING! It makes his Mommy VERY happy! Hopefully this means that we will have a happy, healthy boy on January 27 for his Birthday and January 31 for his Birthday Party! I can't BELIEVE my baby is almost 2!!!!!! It seems like only yesterday that I was huge, pregnant and wearing a back brace waiting to meet him....oh wait...that WAS yesterday!!! Hahahaha! Seriously though, I still remember every detail of the day he was born. That was the day our lives changed forever. davin and I often talk about how even though he and I have been together for, well it will be NINE YEARS this June, we can't really remember what our lives were like without Hayden and he's only been with us for two years. It's amazing how a child can do that, just turn your whole world upside down in the best possible way. I'm sure once our little girl is born in a couple of months we will say the same thing about her. I'm already trying to wrap my mind around the idea of our family of three becoming a family of four. We have truly been blessed.
As for my back pain, I wish I had better news. The good news is that when I take my pain meds I feel pretty okay unless I put a lot of pressure on my left side. It's just really the hardest for me when I'm at work because I can't take my meds or I would be found in my office drooling on my keyboard since they knock me out! So by 5:00 everyday, I'm hurting quite a bit. As soon as I get home though, I take my medicine, get a hot shower and ice my back. Davin has been WONDERFUL by pretty much taking care of Hayden completely since I am no longer allowed to pick him up for the remainder of the pregnancy (I'm not supposed to lift anything over 25 lbs). I don't know what I'm going to do when he leaves on the 11th and doesn't come back until the 19th! Changing diapers and giving baths should be fun! Anyway, I'm fine, just in pain, but it could be worse and most importantly Peyton is perfectly fine and that's all that really matter to me.
One more thing.....some of you might be aware that there is a VERY BIG football game on tonight to which I have one thing to say: GOOOOOOOO GATORS!!!!!!!! CHOMP 'EM!!!!!
Love to you all!

2009 started with a bang!!...or a rather painful snap....
New Years Day I was trying to read Hayden a book and I coughed really hard and felt and heard something on the left side of my back snap and dropped to the floor in quite a bit of pain. I thought I pulled a muscle a couple of weeks ago and my back had been a little sore, but when I coughed WOW did it hurt! Long story short, we pretty much spent the night in the ER because I was in such pain that I could breathe or stand upright or put any pressure at all on the left side of my body without being in absolute agony. SO....after about a 24 hour peroid of tests and meds and exams, the ER doctor and my OBGYN determined that I have at least one ruptured disc, I have torn my intercostal muscle, and could also have a broken rib. They can't be 100% certain of all of this because the tests they can run on me are limited due to the baby, but according to the amount of pain I am in and what they saw from examining my back they are pretty sure that is what has happened. So as of now I am on pain meds and muscle relaxers and will probably be on them throughout the remainder of the pregnancy. Usually ruptured discs heal on their own, but because there will only continue to be more and more pressure put on my back as I continue to grow for the next 10 weeks until I have the baby, I may not feel any better until after Peyton is born. But the good news is that as long as I stay on top of my meds, I can move around pretty well as long as I don't put any weight on my left side. So....that was our memorable New Years! Ha! Never a dull moment in the Cox household!

New Years Eve 2008/Davin's 31st!
We celebrated Davin's birthday and NYE with our friends here in San Antonio and we had a great time! We all went to dinner at this really cool new restaurant called Chama Gaucha and it was soooo yummy! Hayden felt pretty well too so that was a plus! After dinner we all went over to John and Ashley's to ring in the New Year and I'm very proud to say that I made it until midnight! Of course once midnight came around....Mommy was ready to go hit the sack! Hayden just slept in his pack and play in one of their guest rooms for a couple of hours while we counted down to the New Year! Here are some pictures to enjoy from our night! I hope this new year brings many blessings to you all!
Love,
Spencer
