Chocolate and Gavin DeGraw...who knew?!

Greetings all! I am proud (and a little scared) to say that for three nights in a row Peyton has only gotten up ONCE! I think this medicine must be working and this formula is too...maybe we are turning a corner! She still screams, but not as often and today she has been in a good mood, smiling and cooing all day long!! I'm sooo happy that my baby seems to be happy!! I hope it lasts!

We also discovered that she LOVES Gavin DeGraw's music and voice because I turned some on when she was screaming and she quieted down and started looking around and cooing! That's good since he is also Mommy's favorite singer too! Then when we went to dinner last night we had a chocolate lava cake that Davin, Hayden and I split (of course) and Davin dipped Peyton's binky in a little bit of the Godiva chocolate sauce and I though she was going to eat her binky!!! Hahahaha! All this time and all we had to do is wine and dine her with chocolate and soft music! Ha!

Here are some "chocolate face" pictures and a couple of pics from church today. Peyton's dress is the same dress that I wore when my parents brought me home from the hospital after I was born!

Talk to you soon!

Peyton Update

We took Peyton to the GI Specialist today and in addition to the severe colic, he believes she has a milk protein intolerance and Gastroesophageal Disease (GERD) so he prescribed us some meds to give her for that and believe this may be why she is not gaining weight. He wants to see her back in 4 weeks to monitor her weight and if he is not pleased with her progress he will run more tests. Basically, Peyton's digestive system is not matured the way it should have by now and needs to adjust. Maybe this prescription will work and she can be pain free and relax and we can all start to sleep again.
Hope all is well!

Happy One-Month Birthday to Peyton!

I can't believe our little angel is already one month old today! Time is going by so fast! We went to the Pediatric Cardiologist this morning to get her heart murmur checked out and the kind of murmr she has is a normal one for some infants. The doctor said her pulmonary artery is the artery that is causing the murmer because it is so small and all the blood that is trying to get through it has a little bit of trouble getting through. She said that when babies have this kind of murmur it normally corrects itself in 6-12 months, so that was WONDERFUL news. On the "bad news" side of things, she is still not gaining any weight and is now even losing some. She weighs 7 lbs, 15 oz and has only gained 6 oz since birth when the average weight gain for a newborn within the first month is 1 and 1/2 lbs. We have an appointment with a GI specialist next Wednesday to get her diestive tract checked out so hopefully that will help us figure out what is wrong with her. Even though she cries a lot and seems to be very uncomfortable a lot of the time, she is the sweetest little girl! Hayden is NUTS about his baby sister and when she cries like she does he'll bring some of his toys to her and kiss her on the forehead! It's the CUTEST thing! We are so lucky to have the two most beautiful and sweetest children in the world! We just need to get "baby sister" straightened out and we will be perfect. I will keep you all posted and I will try to post a slideshow of some more pictures soon.
Love to you all!

Colic is a VERY unwelcome guest!

We helped give some of our best friends Erica and Casey a couples wedding shower this past Saturday and we had lots of fun with that! It was nice to get out of the house for just a little bit. My mom and dad came to help us with Peyton from last Wednesday through yesterday and THANK GOD they did! I know they must be happy to be back at their house now after listening to the screaming for five days! Ha! Poor Peyton is still suffering with colic and we are set to go BACK to the doctor with her AGAIN tomorrow afternoon since the latest formula the doctor put her on last Friday is not working either. She did do pretty well sleeping last night so that was pretty good, but I don't want to get my hopes up. I think she is just really tired and that's why she slept well last night and she has been asleep most of the day today. It's just been very frustrating to see our daughter scream and cry in pain day after day and there is nothing we can do to make her feel better. Hopefully the doctor will have another suggestion tomorrow and maybe Peyton has gained some weight. Davin's parents are coming in this weekend to stay with the kids so Davin and I can go to Austin for Erica and Casey's bachelor/bachelorette parties. We will come back early Sunday morning or late Saturday night so we can take the kiddos to church Sunday for Peyton's first Easter and then go to lunch and hunt Easter eggs with Hayden. I am getting better with my bronchitis too so that's good! I'm hoping I can get back in the gym before the end of the week, but I don't want to push it because I want to get completely over this crud so I don't get sick again. Well, I know this blog has been very random and all over the place, but that's how I think these days due to the lack of sleep. Ha! I'll post pictures from the couples shower later today!
Love to you all,
Spencer:)

More colic and some bronchitis!

I took Peyton to the doctor this morning because her colic has not gotten any better. It turns out that in the past two weeks she has not gained so much as an ounce of weight, which is some cause for concern, and the doctor has put her on another formula. She will now switch from the soy formula to the hypoallergenic formula that smells AWFUL! She's eating every 3 to 4 hours so I don't know why she hasn't gained any weight. The doctor wants me to call her back on Monday to tell her how the weekend goes with the new formula and she will probably want to see Peyton again next week. If this new formula doesn't work and she doesn't start gaining weight soon, the doctor will want to start running tests to help us figure out what is going on. In the meantime, due to lack of sleep and allergy season I have come down with a sinus infection and bronchitis. My doctor told me to drink lots of fluids and get plenty of rest and I just laughed at her and told her I have a colicky 4-week-old baby. It's SUPER FUN at our house right now! At least I'm not contagious so Davin and Hayden shouldn't be sick....just the girls of the house are suffering right now!
Talk to you soon!
