Pregnancy Update

Hi everyone. Well I wish I had more news for you. I went to the doctor this morning and we did not get an ultrasound this time; however, she did say that she wants to schedule me for the "big" sonogram at the hospital sooner than she normally would due to the amount of pain I have been experiencing in my lower abdomen. I am also still getting sick and while that has gotten much better, she still wants it to improve and so do I!! So, we had the multiple marker screening test done today which checks for: cystic fibrosis, spina bifida, down syndrome and a few other genetic disorders. I can call next Monday for those results. Dr. Gurwitz's nurse is supposed to schedule my sonogram for either sometime next week or the week after and call me with the appointment date and time at some point today. We should find out the sex at during that sonogram. I am a little behind on my weight gain but that's pretty normal due to all the morning sickness so overall I think everything is moving along quite nicely! I'll keep you posted! Have a great week!

Spencer

Hayden is FAMOUS in Arkansas!

Hi guys! Well Hayden has now been on the news in Arkansas about three or four times since last Saturday! Apparently when we went to Papaw's football game a news cameraman shot some footage of Hayden cheering in the stands, so he was first on that Saturday night when they re-capped the game! We missed it, but Phyllis' brother Robert called to tell us he had been on the news! Then on Sunday night they show the "Top Ten Sports Clips" from the weekend and Hayden was number 4 because they said he was "too cute!" We missed that too but Mimi and Papaw caught it and have been trying to get the video from the station since....they still haven't been able to get it. BUT then Hayden was on AGAIN this morning while the news talked about UCA's upcoming football game and showed clips from last weeks game! So right now this video is up so hopefully you can see it! They don't talk about Hayden in this one, but you can see some of what they must have shot and shown before. Anyway here is our little star:

BIG NEWS!!!!!!

I am very happy and excited to FINALLY announce that Hayden will be a BIG brother this March!!! Davin and I are due to have our second baby on March 22, 2009. I know I will probably be a week or so earlier than that since I already know I will have to be induced due to my having Group B Strep, but the baby will be here in March. I have just started my second trimester and so far everything is going well. We have had one appointment when I was 10 weeks along and got to see the little "jelly bean" and I go next Monday the 29th for my 15-week appointment. Davin and I are both so excited and Hayden LOVES to play "Where's the baby?!" He usually lifts my shirt and points to my belly and says "BABY!" but sometimes he points to his only little pot belly and says, "Baby?" He will be the BEST big brother! We are fairly certain about the sex of the baby, but I want to wait for the doctor to confirm before we tell everyone; boy or girl this baby is already sooooo loved by us! I will admit that this pregnancy has been COMPLETELY different from my pregnancy with Hayden. With Hayden, I was not sick one day and this time I was getting sick before I even took a pregnancy test! So, even though I have been (and still am) very sick I think this must be what a "normal" pregnancy must be like since most of the women I know who have been pregnant have dealt with morning sickness. In my case it has been primarily "evening sickness" but sometimes it's just "anytime sickness." The doctor put me on prescription prenatal vitamins to provide me with more iron (because of course my anemia is VERY bad again as it was with Hayden-no surprise there) and she also prescribed me some phenergan which is GREAT but it makes me very sleepy so I try not to take it until I go to bed. Also my craving are TOTALLY different! With Hayden, all I wanted was cheeseburgers and red meat (which I actually hate) and this time all I want is sweet stuff and fruit (my biggest craving has been blueberry pancakes and blueberry muffins)!!!! Yummy!!!! I also LOVE pineapple chunks and ICE CREAM! Needless to say I am going to have to be very careful with my weight since all I want is sweets! I've done a great job so far and I'm supposed to gain 25-30 pounds, but I would LOVE to only gain around 20. As long as I stay on target and the baby is healthy that's all that matters! I'm still working out everyday which is surprisingly helping with the morning sickness. Anyway, I've rambled enough, so I'll say goodbye for now! OHHH!! One more thing! Davin's cousin Lucas and his wife Ashley are due to have their FIRST baby at the EXACT SAME TIME that we're due! Neat, huh?
I will post another blog with some pics of Hayden in his "Big Brother to be" shirt and some of our pictures of our trip to Arkansas this past weekend to see Mimi and Papaw so watch for those later this week!
Love,
-Spencer

Hurricane Ike

By now I know that all of you have seen some of the destruction that Ike left in its path this past weekend. Of course the Texas Gulf Coast, primarily Houston/Gavleston/Beaumont areas were hit first and very hard by the storm. By the looks of things on the news it will take some time before life returns to normal for those people. And while my heart truly goes out to all of those in the Houston area (Davin and I both have family who lives there, I really feel for all the people in the little towns northeast all the to Texarkana who were slammed by this storm too! Lufkin, Dibol, Livingston, and Nacogdoches (to name a few) were destroyed by this storm. My parents, aunt Catherine, and brother have been without power since early Saturday morning. It too two and a half days before my family could leave the house because their cars were blocked by huge power lines that had fallen at the end of the driveway. On house up the street from my parents was COMPLETELY decimated by an enormous oak tree...I mean it is GONE! My parents have huge tree limbs on top of their carport, the electric boxes on their house and their neighbor's house were completely ripped out of the bricks, the roof to one of the oldest buildings in Nacogdoches has been peeled completely back and is resting in the parking lot! Words cannot begin to describe the devastation so I have posted this web site below for you all to look at some of the pictures of what Nacogdoches looks like. Schools may start tomorrow but no one knows for sure yet, and who knows when anyone will get power because the bulk of the elcletric crews have been dispatched to Houston so all of the little towns have to "wait their turn." I think that's just awful! I'm not saying that people in Houston don't need to get up and running quickly too, I just think that we should be better prepared and better equipped to handle situations like this so that if this were to happen again, there would be enough crews to concentrate on EVERY area that has been effected, whether it be an urban area, or rural. Please keep all of those who have been through this storm in your thoughts and prayers and let us all hope that everyone gets power, water, food, shelter, etc. as soon as possible!
Love,
Spencer

Nacogdoches Baby Shower!!!

Hi everyone! The boys and I went to Nacogdoches this weekend to throw a baby shower for my cousin Rachael who is expecting her first child with her husband Aaron..they are having a little boy in a few weeks! We only go to Nac maybe 2-3 times a year because it's a bout a 6 hour drive from here and we both work all week until at least 5:00 so it makes it difficult to get away. My mom, Rachael's sister-in-law, my aunt's best friend, and I all threw Rachael and Aaron a baby shower yesterday and it was a lot of fun! I wanted to share a couple pics with you so I hope you enjoy. We will be traveling to Arkansas to see Davin's family this week, so we'll have lots of pics from that too! Hope you all have a wonderful week!
Love,
S
