Work and Play in Nacogdoches

The kids and I went to Nac this past weekend so we could help my parents pack up a lot of their stuff for their big move to San Antonio. They haven't sold their house yet and they don't have a place here yet either, but they had 30 years worth of stuff and all my grandparents stuff to weed through in order to lighten their load once they do move. I ended up helping Mom and Dad move my little brother into his apartment most of the weekend too. But for about an hour, I met up with Denisha and Connor at Pecan Park so our kids could play! As you can see, they had a great time!! Mom and Dad's house looks great too and I know it's just a matter of time before it sells!
Love to you all!

More Family Pics by Stacey Anne

Hayden's pink-eye and Peyton's 1st solid food!

Hayden has pink-eye and this is my very first experience with it. I have never had it myself and the kids haven't had it either. It's mainly his left eye that is really bad and I have to say that...it's gooey and gross! Yuck!! Needless to say, I have bleached or wiped everything in the house down with lysol to disinfect this house!! Plus he can't seem to keep his hands away from his eye because it itches so badly. We have some antibiotic drops now though that he gets three times a day for seven days, so we should be good. He has to stay home from daycare with me again tomorrow, but hopefully he can go back to see his friends on Thursday.

Peyton is teething already and has been screaming the past two days because of it. I got her some orajel and teething tablets, but she's still really hurting and she DEFINITELY lets you know when she's uncomfortable! Hahahahaha! She also ate her very first solid food comsisting of rice cereal with pears this evening. I have pasted pictures and of it below.

Love to you all,
S:)

Why are you doing this to me?

I don't want to eat it...

Hmmmm, it tastes good on my fist....

Mimi, Papaw, and our niece Addison came to our house this past weekend and we had lots of fun! Hayden and Addison are hilarious together and every morning when Addison would see Peyton she would go up to her and say "Hey girl!" Hahahaha! We had a great time!!
Here are some pics from the weekend!

Family Update

Davin has been working on a business plan for a breeding/invitro-fertilization/freezing facility since he got back from Brazil and it is really coming along. He is so creative and has so many great ideas and since there is no market for this kind of lab here in the US yet, I know good thing will happen with it! I'm so proud of him!

Miss Peyton, I SWEAR, is teething already. She drools all the time and she is NON-STOP chewing on her hands!!! She'll be 4 months old tomorrow, so if we have a 4 month old with teeth that will just totally freak me out! Ha! She really is giggling and "talking" now...I wish you could hear her laugh, it cracks us up! I'll see if I can get a little video of it and post it for you!

Hayden is still doing GREAT with the potty training and despite a very few accidents, he has pretty much got the potty down! He REALLY needs a hair cut too because he actually looks like Shaggy from Scooby Doo!

We decided last night that I am going back to graduate school full-time this Fall to finish my Masters before I do anything else! I am going to make an appointment with my advisor for some time next week and go talk to her about how many classes I have next and what I can do to finish this year. I would LOVE to finish this Fall, but I don't know if all the remaining credits I need will be offered this Fall or not. I will keep you posted with that though!

All, in all the Crazy Cox Fam is doing pretty great, I would say! I hope you all have a great day!

Love,
S:)

Changes

As soon as I went back to work from my maternity leave on June 1, my company had announced that there would be a lot of lay-offs happening in June due to the bad economy. One of the things I love most about Zachry is that they put their people first. It's a very employee friendly company and from what I understand, it has always been so. When several companies had to lay-off thousands of people in the fall, Zachry did everything it could to avoid this very outcome until they had no other choice and I respect Zachry for that. The lay-offs finally happened today and unfortunately my position (along with a few hundred others) was eliminated. I know that it was just a job, but for me the people there were my other family and I am going to miss them all very much. I learned so much during my time there about the law, the construction industry, marketing, and just business in general. I can honestly say that I worked with the best group of people that anyone could ever ask to work with, especially "the crew." Desri, Kim, Stephanie, Trish, Cyndie and I were all really close and I consider them all my best friends at Zachry and just some very dear friends in general. I am really going to miss those crazy ladies. We all knew this was coming, but of course we didn't know who it was going to be or when it would happen so we decided to have a "last supper," if you will, on the Friday before last and we took this picture together I have posted below.

From left to right: Desri, Trish, Me, Kim, Stephanie, and Cyndie

I know that everything happens for a reason, but I won't lie and say this doesn't sting, because it does, but I can say that I know good things will come from this. Now I can decide what to do next; whether it's finishing up my Master's Degree and work part time while doing that, or getting a teaching certificate and teaching junior high or high school English while I finish my Masters and then try to get a job as a professor at a junior college, or going into other areas of marketing, or even starting my own business from home. I have been blessed with the most supportive and loving husband, the sweetest children, the most caring and encouraging family, and the best friends a girl could hope for, so I know that I have so many things to rejoice about in my life.

This is a bump in the road for my family right now, and just another plot twist in my story of life and I will make the best of it, after I cry a little, but then I'll dust myself off, wipe my eyes, and keep on going. I'm looking forward to all the new doors that will open for me as a result of what has happened.

I do ask that all of you please pray for the rest of the employees who were let go and their families because there were so many who had to leave. Also, please pray for those who are still there and have to learn how to move on without some of their best friends or co-workers whom they have known and worked with for years. As much as I didn't like being in my shoes today, I have to admit that I would rather be in my shoes than be in the shoes of those who had to let their employees go today, so I ask that you pray for them too.

I am very much looking forward to the future and all that it may hold for me and my family.

Love to you all,
S:)
